It is EASY to get to Whyte Hall from NYC: via Sayville Ferry (http://www.sayvilleferry.com/) for $16, special MTA LIRR-Ferry packages (take the Manhattan or Brooklyn LIRR to Sayville LIRR Station, transfer via Colonial Taxi to Ferry) or via water taxi from any other beach on the Island. You do NOT need a car to get to the Fire Island event.
